Shows (updated 4/4/2008): We've now participated in three shows this year - all Rolling Hills Saddle Club shows. We are a big fan of this show circuit - we really like the way they run the shows and also think RHSC does a fine job of hiring competent judges and staff. The show circuit is great for kids to adults and from beginner to experienced riders.
We took six horses to the March 29th show - Gigi, Lexie, Indy, Mikey, new horse, and Chocklit. Indy explored the show grounds with his owner in preparation for a show in May (yes - we are holding you to this!). The rest of the horses were shown in jumpers, hunter, and beginner classes (and mini courses/medal classes). Our riders are doing very well in the points standings for the year. Meghan took first place in the hunter hack class, with a new-to-hunter-horse Lexie taking third. Meghan and Mikey competed all day long (even in the rain) and did very well. Meghan took second this time in the Chris Elliot medal out of a large group of kids (she won the medal in her last show). Meghan and Mikey make up one of our best hunter pairs at Green Tree Horse Farm. Kaitlin and Lexie won a reserve champion in 3' jumpers in the morning. Lexie has only shown a few times in jumpers and is steadily getting better. She's a 17'2 horse that's hard to turn on some of those tight courses, but is quickly learning the ropes. As I mentioned before, Lexie and Kaitlin took third place in the hunter hack as continues to fine tune her hunter skills.
June has a new horse in addition to Gigi- and ended up showing both of them on the 29th. Gigi competed for her first time in jumpers and did well. There are plenty of videos posted on YouTube of the pair. June's new horse - who's never been jumped at a show before she acquired her - did very well for the first time. We are looking forward to great things with this new pair. Bridget had a record day (and we hope didn't set her personal bar too high) by pinning two division champion ribbons. Chocklit was spot on perfect as Bridget navigated the waters in the beginner ring. She competed in three total divisions - taking champion of two of them. There were at least 15 other riders in the two divisions she competed in. She took a few firsts, seconds, and thirds in her quest for champion. There were several pictures take at the show as always - if you have more, feel free to send them our way and we'll get them posted. Our next show will be the HJ Fox show on April 26th at Malone farms. If you are interested in showing, there's always more room on the trailer

Construction Progress: This winter took an interesting turn with newborn Jaden Noah Wofford on January 8th of 2008. It was good timing for the show season this year, and we are proud to have a little healthy boy. It's only a matter of time before he'll be crawling and helping out around the farm. I'm sure he doesn't know what we have in store for him. Definitely some lead line classes if he's interested :)We did finish out an office and extra guest bedroom/bathroom in the basement. We also redid a guestroom into a nursery so Jaden will have a nice place to sleep. We ended up finishing some landscaping this summer, running some extra water lines, and adding a few other conveniences. We will be sectioning off some more paddocks this year, as well as possibly insulating the open barn. We will definitely add some more grooming/tack areas but are pretty much done growing at the moment. |
