Horse Show Ventures!

Meg on Buscuit at the March 2010  Horse Show Ventures show

Biscuit is a sweet loving mare who loves to jump. We've had this mare for four years now and she's been involved in our lesson and show program. She started out as a trail horse from a popular bed and breakfast place in Madison, GA. We brought her here for her passion for jumping. We knew we had a winner. This girl loves to jump and loves to show. She's had several different riders for years and they all love her. We've had her mostly in the beginner ring over crossrails where we think she does best. She can do the bigger jumps (like here at our farm) but she's really comfortable with crossrails and smaller solid jumps. She could easily take you where you want to go.

She's 15.1hh loads, bathes, and clips well. Her one vice is with her right ear where she's had a small white fungus inside the ear. We've had her checked by the vet - there's nothing you can do about it. You just have to be careful putting the bridle on because she doesn't like that ear messed with alot. She gets her lead changes on the front but needs additional work to get the back (which is why we are listing her at $4000). Like I said before, she can take you where you want to go.

Meg on Biscuit!

She would be a great trail/lesson horse for your facility. She would also be great with one owner. A loving home is a must. She is fine as a pasture boarded horse but she's been in a stall before. She gets along great with others - her best friend here is an older QH gelding. She used to stand well for the farrier - but there's a story behind that. We had some trees cleared on the property at one point a few years back and ever since the trees fell while she was getting shod here she gets nervous in our barn. I don't think she'd be that way in another facility that she grows accustomed to. She's ok (still stands in crossties) but is just nervous. I want to be completely honest with you and that's all I can think of. If you have any more questions feel free to ask. We have tons (I mean probably 50) videos and pictures (hundreds) of her at shows.

Show News:
(updated 5/4/2010)

We just finished showing at the Horse Show Ventures show in Wills Park, Alpharetta, GA this past weekend.  It was a two day show that the team really enjoyed.  Schooling happened on Friday and the show took off Saturday morning with the adult beginners.  Jeri showed Emmit on the flat and Biscuit for the jumping round.  Fred threw his back out so Karen showed Cyd.  They both did very well.  Later in the day Bridget showed Cyd and Meghan did well on Mikey.

Day two at the Horse Show Ventures Show was a bit different.  Once again Karen and Jeri did well, but Mikey wasn't acting himself in the covered ring.  By the second day Biscuit had some problems with the bigger jumps in the hunter ring.  Later on Bridget rode Cyd and cleaned up.  We ended up with tons of first and second place ribbons at this show.  Bridget also won the Horse Show Ventures Classic rounds, bringing home an engraved crystal piece.  We wrapped it up with a nice flat tire on the way home. This show was good for the team and we will be doing it all over again at the end of May.

We decided to put Lexie up for sale so that Jess could focus on a new endeavor - Sport Horse shows.  Lexie has been a great 17.2hh Thoroughbred Mare for us - she's gone to several shows and done well.  She's a Hunter Jumper at heart - she even competed at the most recent Horse Show Ventures Show that we attended.  We love her to death - she's a gentle giant.  But sadly it's time to go.  We are willing to take a loss on her and are listing her for $5000 at the following sites:

We are reigning in the new year with our first show in Tennessee.  We showed at the Tri State Facility in the Rivermont Farms Winter Classic. We brought up several horses/riders to the show to spend the weekend and everyone had a great time.  We really enjoy Ashley Godwin's circuits and would like to do more of them.

Our next show was the March Horse Show Ventures Show. We brought 10 horses over and had 8 riders show.  We did very well for our first time at this show circuit and plan on hitting more of them this year.

We also do several trail rides during the year.  No - I'm not talking about trail rides on the property - but trail rides where we take your horse to Hard Labor Creek State Park, The Georgia International Horse Park, or another popular trail ride facility.  The cost is usually $50 for the trailering to the facility.

We do plan on completing an entire circuit this year.  We have decided that Horse Show Ventures will be the circuit we are attending this year.  This circuit appears to be best for the advancement of the students at Green Tree Horse Farm.  This year we will also be mixing in some Rolling Hills Saddle Club shows.  For the latest and greatest up to date pictures please visit http://andywofford.com or go directly to: http://andysmirror.redirectme.net/main.php?g2_itemId=84

We have so much going on here that it is becoming too onerous to update the news page after every show.  We always produce a year end video for all the show students and invite them over for a year end show viewing.  If you are interested feel free to drop us a line and find out when the next year end video will be shown.  We would love to have you over for it.
